OCSD5 Honors 2014 Retirees
Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five honored twenty-seven retirees at a Retirement Celebration event on May 22, 2014. The group of retirees had a combined total of 635 years of service to the district.
Vernon Stephens, Vice Chair of the OCSD5 Board of Trustees, was the Master of Ceremonies for the event. He was joined on the program by fellow Board members Mary Ulmer, Idella Carson, Sam Farlow, and Julius Page along with Superintendent Cynthia Wilson and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Sharon Quinn who each expressed their appreciation and best wishes to the retirees. A special tribute was given by Cynthia Brodie, a 2013 retiree, who entertained the retirees with a humorous version of a game show she created called “Retirement Jeopardy”. The vocal group Appointed also entertained the retirees with a selection of inspirational music. The 2014 retirees and their years of service are: Evelyn McIver, BBES, 21 years; Rosalyn Weathers, BBES, 30 years; James Jones, Brookdale, 22 years; Joe Coleman, District Office, 45 years; Jerry Govan, District Office, 18 years; Patrick Heningburg, District Office, 9 years; Jacqueline Jamison, District Office, 24 years; Jean Miller, District Office, 10 years; Veronica Green, Marshall, 24 years; Barbara Rivers, Marshall, 33 years; Gail Richardson, Mellichamp, 33 years; Angela Fersner, North Middle/High, 26 years; Nathaniel Bookhardt, O-W, 20 years; Dale Evans, O-W, 13 years; Deborah Hailey, O-W, 19 years; Barbara Heningburg, O-W, 10 years; Shirley Jones, O-W, 20 years; Leona Rumph, O-W, 30 years; Thomasina Snell, O-W, 38 years; Florence Thomas, O-W, 28 years; Michele Crane, Sheridan, 33 years; Mildred Gooden, Sheridan, 8 years; Jane Junquet, Sheridan, 33 years; Elaine Robinson, Sheridan, 27 years; Mable Wright, Sheridan, 12 years; Thomas Saxon, Technology Center, 28 years; and Peggy Proveaux, Whittaker, 21 years.
