This week Rivelon will be celebrating Read Across America Week. NEA’s Read Across America began in 1998 as a way to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Seuss by encouraging children to read. Since its creation, educators, parents, caregivers and students have embraced Read Across America and helped to turn it into the largest reading celebration. On March 2, we encourage EVERYONE to pick up a book and read to a child.
At Rivelon this week we will have many fun activities for students to enjoy to celebrate reading and Dr. Seuss' birthday. Please be sure to read and sign any permission slips coming home. 1st and 2nd grade students will be attending a Read Across America event at Claflin on Friday, March 2. The Animal Ambassadors will visit Rivelon on Monday, March 5 with several exotic animals from around the world.
A child's ability to read has a direct effect on their future success. Reading with your child helps to increase their vocabulary and improves their reading fluency and comprehension. So, whether it’s your favorite Dr. Seuss book or something new and exciting, we encourage you to: Grab your hat and read with the cat!
